Discovering Culture in Newport

York Street Cafe Bailey Kemme Upon visiting York Street Cafe, I had heard little to no opinions about it, but did look at the yelp review, which held it to a high standard of four and half stars. I was very intrigued by this and selected at as my next destination in Newport. Giving off a classy, yet casual vibe, I found the restaurant very intimate and a good place to relax. It's a different kind of setting, and the food was well prepared and the atmosphere was very nice. It almost has a nostalgic feeling for a decade I was not alive, but yet creates the idea of it with the novelties and antiques around. It was unique how the entrance was on the side of the building, surcease the front is so open and inviting to customers. I got the dirty hummus, and it was very flavorful and warm, mainly tastes of peppers, onion and cheese that gave me a good twist on the normal hummus i would buy from the store. By: Ahmad If you are looking for a fun place that offers delicious food with an outstanding service, as well as different and funky decor, then York Street Cafe is your destination. It is located in Newport and on the street that it gets its name from, York street.  As soon as you walk through the doors, you will be greeted by hosts that are dressed up in formal attire and will notice how different this place is. The friendly staff will guide you to your table and answer all your questions about the cafe, from the decor to the menu. When I explained my intentions of writing a blog about this place, our server, Ethan, was kind enough to introduce us to Terry, one of the owners of the cafe. Terry provided us with the history of this cafe. Apparently, the building used to be called the “Feth Building,” and the front part of it on the first floor was a pharmacy. Discovering Buckhead Mountain Grill Research: Lily Gamel         There are many restaurants and shops that overlook these beautiful views of the Ohio River, the Purple People bridge, The Roebling Bridge, the skyline of Cincinnati, the BB riverboat, and more. Among these local places is Buckhead Mountain Grill. This is a restaurant that gives you a feeling of being in a cabin in the woods. There are deer and moose heads on the wall, and wooden beams, floors, walls, and ceiling that give a rustic vibe.          With only three locations, Buckhead's loves to give out a helping hand to the community surrounding it. On their website, you can find ways to donate to local charities for their Charity Days. They have been able to give back to schools, non-profits, and surrounding sports groups. Observational: By Ahmad Hofbräuhaus is a brewery and restaurant located in Newport on the Levee area and is a great place for people to experience German culture, as well as German beer and food. Me and my other two classmates visited the restaurant about a week ago and were amused by the fact that waitresses are dressed in German uniforms to assure the best experience for the guests. The decoration of this restaurant is another way to ensure that their guests will never forget this experience. The restaurant has traditionally decorated rooms with lots of pictures that present the history of Germany and the history of the restaurant. in fact, The Hofbräuhaus Newport is modeled after the original 400+-year-old Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Germany.    Hofbräuhaus Germany Hofbräuhaus Newport

Discovering The Hofbrauhaus  Interview: Lily Gamel          Surrounded by new apartments and historic, old houses there is beautiful city that celebrates diversity and unity simultaneously. Newport is a city filled with culture, creativity, and history. There is a lot to explore when coming into this city. There are shops, entertainment, wonderful sights, and delicious restaurants that offer diverse, quality food. The Hofbrauhaus is just one restaurant out of many that offers all these qualities and beyond. It is a restaurant that promotes German culture all around. Newport does a great job bringing in diversity and culture into the city especially with the Hofbrauhaus. In the picture to the left, we can see that there are rows of wooden tables that align the floor, similar to how other Hofbrauhauses in Germany are. History Of  Hofbräuhaus     Bailey Kemme                              Visiting the  Hofbräuhaus Newport was an experience I will not soon forget. If you are looking for a truly unique meal that has an experience with it, this is your place. Not only will the servers take their time to sing and dance on tables for you, but do it in colorful German uniforms. The history of this place is also quite exciting (if you're into that kind of thing). If you didn't know, they often call breweries in Germany  Hofbräuhaus'.  The  Hofbräuhaus name came from Wihelm V, the duke of Bavaria (1579-1597). He and his mates were not satisfied with the beer brewed in Munich, and would often order beer from other cities. Trying to  cut costs, they decided to build a brewery with brew-master Heimeran Pongraz, and the word  Hofbräuhaus, meaning the "ducal brewery".
