Discovering La Mexicana Restaurant

Discovering La Mexicana Restaurant

Observation: Lily Gamel

On the lively Monmouth Street located in Newport Kentucky, there are people eating at tables outside restaurants and cars lined up on each side of the street. There is a sense of belonging as people sit outside people-watching and discussing their days in front of shops, businesses, and restaurants that line the streets one next to the other. Among these welcoming buildings is La Mexicana which, you
guessed it, is a Mexican restaurant that provides delicious, authentic Mexican food.
La Mexicana stood out with a bright yellow sign hanging out into the sidewalk with the words "La Mexicana" written in red letters and a picture of Mexico. This picture of Mexico was made up different Mexican things such as a guitar, sombreros, cacti, avocados, etc. This draws in customers because it shows diversity in this city. Newport tends to celebrate culture in all ways including having delicious restaurants that honors different areas like Mexico.
My fellow bloggers and I were one of these customers that were drawn in because of the authenticity and celebration of diversity. We walked into the crowded restaurant and were immediately consumed with Spanish music, pictures, designs, and many Spanish speaking staff members.
When we sat ourselves, we were greeted by our server and ordered our drinks and food, all getting different dinners. I got a chicken quesadilla that satisfied my stomach with delicious ingredients. After we ate, we paid for our meals and went outside to the lively street and were welcomed by a beautiful sunset that topped off our evening. I would definitely recommend visiting this spectacular restaurant and its beautiful surroundings. It was a restaurant that honored Newport's identity of exploring differences and cultures. The city is welcoming and celebrates a sense of belonging in a small city.
